Jacques Vaché
WAR LETTERS

£25.00

Out of print, very few copies.

Edited and translated by Paul Lenti.

Jacques Vaché’s ironically titled War Letters, cynical and anti-militaristic, constitute a seminal work in the pre-history of Dada and Surrealism, and are printed here with with all four of André Breton’s essays on them.

Vaché, a dandy and a drug addict, was an extraordinary personality whose humorous nihilism made these letters among the founding documents of the new “anti-sensibility” which appeared in the wake of the First World War.

Atlas Press The Printed Head III, number 1, limited to 300 numbered copies. The letters and one of Breton’s essays was later reprinted in 4 Dada Suicides (1995 & 2005).
