DISQUISITION ON THE DIFFICULTY OF COMMUNICATING WITH THE DEAD

£15.00

Based around a “literary” text by Giorgio Manganelli ( “a classic” according to Italo Calvino), this issue considers the virtuality of death from a pataphysical viewpoint. If, it argues, the flourishing of life is simply a means to facilitate the production of the dead, as Manganelli informs us, then death is no more than a moment of taxonomic reclassification when the one is transformed into the other. Life and death are opposites which might seem resistant to pataphysical equivalence, and yet… (see this Journal for the reconciliation).

Everyday life on the Other Side, as described by Death himself to Victor Hugo (transcriptions of seances conducted by him on Jersey), spirit photography, mirror images and communications from the living by Blegvad, Lanyon and Parsnips.
