Donald Parsnips & Adam Dant
AN A TO Z FOR THE EFFECTIVE USE OF YOUR CITY

Out of print and unavailable.

Adam Dant’s cartographies of the psychological feedback of cityscapes in general, and of Shoreditch in particular, are becoming widely known, but this issue of the Printed Head, was perhaps the earliest to appear in semi-conventional printed form. Compiled with the aid of five years of back issues of Donald Parsnip’s Daily Journal, a breeze-borne pamphlet and art object that sought to situate “encounters” within contemporary “mediation”, AN A TO Z FOR THE EFFECTIVE USE OF YOUR CITY drew on the experience of the Daily Journal for content, method and experience so as to impart various unorthodox methods for immediate use by the urban individual in the viewing, interacting with and relating to, their city.

There is nothing new in this except in the proposition that such a book taking such a form can exist as a staple of democratisation, alongside the tour guide, map, telephone directory, listings magazine, office plan-chest, and book review column in local and international newspapers.
